David Yoshida
David Yoshida began his judo journey starting in 1982 under his father's instruction, Ronald Yoshida. David grew up in Southern Illinois where he trained under his father’s instruction at Belleville Judo Club.
David currently holds a rank of 4th degree blackbelt and competed in the sport of judo at the national level from 1988 to 2006. His accomplishments during his competitive years include national place winnings at the Junior and Senior elite-level events for USA Judo. USJA, and USJF.
In addition to Judo, David wrestled in high school and attended John A. Logan College and then Southern Illinois University on a wrestling scholarship as well as competing in MMA events in the Submission Fighting Championships series in the late 1990s.
As an instructor, David began teaching/coaching judo and wrestling in 1999 and began teaching in DFW when he moved to the metroplex in 2002. David has coached for multiple DFW Judo Clubs throughout the years coaching many judokas to elite levels and national championships.
Along with Judo, David has studied additional martial arts in Tae Kwon Do, Shotokan Karate, Japanese Jujitsu, and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. However, his love of Judo comes from his family’s tradition in this sport going back generations.
David is a certified National level coach for USA Judo and Bronze level coach for USA Wrestling.
David works in the Information Technology field and currently is the Director of Technical & Cloud Services for an enterprise software company in Plano, Texas.
